When you need smart and professional, with a hint of wry sass

September 1999. I packed my black Pontiac Sunfire to the brim with all my belongings. With my mom as co-pilot, we set out on a three-day trek from Houston to LA to launch the next chapter in my life – a career in acting. One of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made.

My goal? TV comedy. And man, have I been blessed. I’ve appeared on some of the greatest shows of all time, including Barry, The Big Bang Theory, Parks & Recreation, Fresh Off The Boat, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Rules of Engagement, Will & Grace and more.

But, I’m also a theatre nerd at heart. I blame my second-grade teacher. She cast me as the lead in Tina and Her Teeth, and the biscupid called “acting” bit me hard. It continued all through grammar school, high school and college.

I’m addicted to the energy of a live audience. There’s nothing like it.

  • Regional theatre productions? check

  • Performing storytelling at The Moth? YES

  • Writing and producing my own solo show? 1000%

That’s one of the greatest parts about being an actor – there are so many outlets to channel creativity

When not acting, I share a life with my husband (and fellow actor), Thomas Crawford, who I married in 2004. We’re knee deep in raising two teenage daughters. So, essentially, we live in our cars and are on a first-name basis at local fast-food restaurants as we drive “our divas” to 900 activities.

Some quick fun facts:

  • I hold a journalism degree from The University of Texas at Austin. Hook ‘em Horns!

  • I’m a NASA brat. My dad worked for the space program for 30 years before passing the torch to my little brother. I watch launches ALL the time.

  • Previous jobs include radio DJ and costume character at an amusement park.

  • Look for Crystal Hot Sauce during your next visit to the grocery. On the label, it reads “Made by Baumer Foods.” Yep, that’s my family!

  • I’m obsessed with Halloween and the month of October. Seriously, it’s a problem.
